Diet Day 37
Ugh!! I messed up bigtime! I was doing so well last week, down 13 lbs since Jan 4, and then I blew it. I went out with friends on Friday and drank beer and a margarita, ate chips, potato skins, and a fudge sundae! Then on saturday I had home-made waffle-cut potato chips (darn that deep fryer!) and some other yummies that I don't want to think about. Finally on Superbowl Sunday, I drank 3 large beers.
On Monday, I was up 3 lbs, for a net loss since Jan 4 of 10 lbs. Today, the net loss is 11lbs, so at least I think I've stopped the uptrend. But Good Grief! 3 lbs up over one weekend is pretty heinous.
Needless to say, I am all the way out of Atkins Induction now. So I have to start over with Induction to get back in the fat burning zone. So, now I'm refocused and determined to get this weightloss trend back under control.

Diet Day 31
Long time, no post! It's one calendar month into the diet, and I've lost 13 lbs. I can talk myself into believing that I am starting to look slimmer. The tape measure indicates that inches are definitely coming off the ol' waistline, so that's a good sign,too. Unfortunately, I will probably suffer a small setback on Sunday's Superbowl festivities, but I can live with that.
So far I feel pretty confident that I will be able to make my "20 pounds by March 11" goal and thus get my $50 check returned to me, but that's no reason to slack off!! I still have a respectable distance to go before I reach my long range goal.
I will be traveling for work in mid Feb, and that tends to pack on a few pounds, too, but I will try to keep my eyes on the prize and stick to diet coke. Yeah right. Maybe with a smidgen of rum in it. Or a fifth of rum...something like that anyway.
I wonder what I am going to have to do to get the next 7 lbs off. Each pound is a major struggle these days. I will probably have to start exercising for a longer period of time each day. Bleah.

Diet Day 24
Boy, one little cheat and I completely derailed the Atkins diet! On Monday, I was down 11 lbs since starting, then I traveled Tuesday (ate Chinese lunch and drank two beers). By Wednesday, I was back up 2 lbs! (Down 9 net, in other words.)
How disappointing. Sometimes I wonder if I will ever be able to maintain a reasonable weight even if I can get these extra pounds off.
I guess I will have to hit it hard again and resume induction for a few days to get back in the fat burning zone. My weight-loss chart is very zig-zagged by now, but at least the overall trend is DOWN.
I will see if I can get down to net 12 lost by Monday, which will make for a really boring weekend, but ya gotta do what ya gotta do.

Diet Day 21
Down another couple of pounds over the weekend!! THat's fairly miraculous considering that I was glued to the TV all Sunday afternoon/evening watching the AFC & NFC games. And the Patriots are going to the Superbowl again!! What a bonus.
Although the traditional beverage of choice for football watching is beer, beer, and more beer, I limited myself to a single glass of wine (far more carb-friendly). Just don't ask me how big the glass was...
I seem to have finally broken through the plateau that held me constant over most of the last week, and that's very encouraging going forward. Also, the tape measure attests that the inches are coming off around the waist and bust, although the hips are still a challenge. But I guess that follows the "Last on, first off" rule that plagues dieters everywhere.

Diet Day 18
I'm finally back down a pound, and I sure hope it will stay off this time--I'm half afraid to make this post in case it angers Gordo, the demigod of Lard, and he reinstalls it firmly on my thighs in retribution. Maybe that's a little paranoid, but this diet business is fairly difficult.
I went to buy a business suit yesterday and received several reminders of why I want to lose weight. Most of the suits were way too tight across the chest, and when I found some that fit chest and shoulders, they were huge in the waist and hung straight down from the bustline like a lampshade, with a big gap between the bottom of the blazer and my actual midsection. The blazers also tend to be too short; they make them the same length in size 16 as in size 4, which doesn't account for the fact that size 16 chicks tend to have some 3-D features on the front side. Grrr. I will have to make do with my business wardrobe as-is for a while, and then try to shop again when I'm smaller.
Today I will continue to be faithful to the diet so I can keep that little pound o' flesh from re-establishing itself--after all, it's not paying rent yet.

Diet Day 16
Argh!! I regained the pound I finally lost last week, and the scale's needle hasn't moved for days!!! I am being very good on the diet: no wine, low carbs, exercising, but it seems I can't get going again.
I really have got to shake a couple of pounds by Monday, or I am not going to make the March 11 goal of 20 lbs lost. Especially considering that I will be traveling on business next week--always a major diet challenge.
This is getting frustrating, but I'm going to stick to it...stay tuned

Diet, Day 11
Well, I am finally down another pound.That little sucker must have been firmly installed! I suppose I'm experiencing the normal slow-down following the usual fast start. Hopefully I can still peel off 2 lbs per week.
I have to be good and not splurge over the weekend though, to make sure I'm either even or have lost more by Tuesday's weigh-in. (I won't be at work on Monday.)
